The Turkish National Assembly authorized the establishment of the University of Bahceehir by the Bahçeşehir U€ur Education Foundation by resolution (Code 4324 dd. Jan. 15, 1998) and published through the Government Bulletin Issue No. 23234 Jan. 18, 1998. An academic and strategic protocol was signed shortly after (February 1998) with San Diego State University in California. The enrollment of the first students was made after the first placement exam (OSYS) in 1999-2000 academic year. President Demirel and the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Rauf Denktas, were among the attendees at the official Opening Ceremony given on campus on November 6, 1999. Mr. Yaşar Okuyan, Minister of Labor and Social Security performed the opening ceremony of our second educational year.
